About Us
The Organization for Latines in Audiology and Speech-language pathology (OLAS) is an organization dedicated to the support and success of Latine students following the career path of Speech and Hearing Sciences (SHS), as well as to students interested in the field. We are advocating and empowering Latine students within a predominantly white field and institution. We ensure that our members feel confident and prepared when they graduate and join the field, in hopes of lowering the effects of imposter syndrome. To accomplish this, we offer our members with resources, social support, and opportunities for growth within the field. This would incorporate study sessions, discussions with certified SLPs and audiologists, overall check-ins with members, etc. In all, we hope to create a safe and inclusive environment that fosters a community for students with similar cultures within the field.
