About Us

The Slavic Graduate Student Association is an organization for graduate students in the field of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian area studies to come together and connect with fellow colleagues to forge a closer academic community on campus. Historically the SGSA has been limited to graduate students of the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, however moving forward we welcome any graduate student who is actively working in this field. The SGSA also advocates for graduate student wellbeing within the Slavic Languages and Literatures Department through a faculty liaison who communicates with the faculty about graduate student life and reports back to the organization about faculty choices. While the SGSA cannot have a presence in every department represented in this organization, we will provide a space where graduate students can come together and create a stronger community.
