Mission The Student Consortium for Conservation GIS and Remote Sensing (SCCGRS) is a student-led network dedicated to fostering the next generation of scholars and practitioners in conservation science, GIS, and remote sensing. We connect students, researchers, and professionals who share a passion for leveraging geospatial technologies to tackle environmental and conservation challenges. SCCGRS is open to anyone interested in conservation, GIS, remote sensing, or environmental science—whether you're an aspiring researcher, a data science enthusiast, or simply someone who is interested in preserving our natural and cultural heritage. Throughout the year, we plan to host guest speakers from academia, industry, and conservation organizations to discuss cutting-edge research and applications in conservation GIS and remote sensing. We also organize hands-on workshops, networking events, and field excursions to explore how geospatial technologies are used in conservation practice. Additionally, we aim to host career panel sessions featuring professionals from academia, industry, and government, offering insights into various career paths in conservation, GIS, and remote sensing.SCCGRS is committed to building a strong and inclusive community. We collaborate with academic or professional groups focusing on conservation such as the Society for Conservation GIS, participate in mapping, and data-driven conservation projects, and support student-led initiatives aimed at applying GIS and remote sensing to real-world environmental challenges. Whether you're new to GIS or an experienced user, SCCGRS provides opportunities to learn, engage, and contribute to conservation efforts globally.
