The Illinois Model United Nations organization will serve its members in the following ways: a. As an opportunity to learn about the purpose, structure, history, and works of the United Nations, b. By bringing students together in an open forum to discuss issues pertaining to real world situations, c. By broadening global perspectives on a variety of academic and practical subjects, d. By increasing individual debate, oratory, writing, communicative, and leadership skills along with confidence and poise, e. By contributing to the education of students by exposing them to real problems, debates, UN procedures, and UN protocols in the context of international relations and foreign policy, f. By fostering the requisite skills and experiences among future leaders to facilitate cooperation, unity, dialogue, and discussion to solve pertinent issues, g. As a forum to increase knowledge about the world we live in today, h. As an organization that furthers the professional, academic, and volunteering development of students with the aim of creating well-rounded global citizens.
