Kappa Chapter
Eight womyn with aligned goals and ambitions sought to create a universe of their own by bringing Alpha Sigma Omega Latina Sorority Inc. to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Daniela Melero Guzman, Adriana Estrada, Karen Macias, Leslie Sanchez Aviles, Melany Bañuelos, Tonantzin Zavala, Amy Palma, and Ashley Garcia knew they called for a genuine sisterhood outside of what they found on campus. This organization embodied their values and beliefs and offered the connection they had envisioned. They set forth to build a foundation for strong-minded womyn to grow and ignite each other's potential as part of a collective larger than themselves. The stars, along with their unique voices, aligned on March 24, 2024, and they became Hermana K’Aidamar, Hermana K’Atimar, Hermana K’Atline, Hermana Kat’Amina, Hermana ZaK’Arisse, Hermana KAri’lea, Hermana K’Adelaria, and Hermana K’Arivi of the Kaptivating Kappa Chapter.
