Engineering Design Council Overview

The Grainger Engineering Design Council (EDC) works collaboratively with the Undergraduate Programs Office, College Facilities and Safety, and the Engineering Student Design Campus (ESDC) staff to publicize and evaluate space and funding proposals from multidisciplinary engineering competition student teams.

EDC serves as the primary mechanism through which departments and stakeholders in Grainger Engineering can work together to allocate resources to large-scale, intercollegiate, multidisciplinary competition student teams.EDC aims to maximize its impact in the following areas:

  • Student Learning: Fostering team management, communication, and hands-on engineering skills.
  • Student Experience: Enhancing student retention and engagement through real-world experiences that improve career readiness.
  • Outreach: Acting as a recruitment tool by showcasing Grainger Engineering’s excellence and the achievements of its student teams.

Engineering Design Council Funding Process

To receive funding from the Engineering Design Council, you must submit the following by September XX, 2026:

  • Engineering Design Council Funding Proposal Document
  • 2-minute video highlighting your group and project

After you submit the above by the deadline, you will be contacted to present a presentation (as well as the 2-minute video) in front of the committee and be asked questions relating to your project, group and requested funding, as well as concerns regarding to safety.

Eligibility: Teams must be affiliated with Engineering Council, multidisciplinary, and participate in a collegiate engineering design competition.  The work should be mostly extracurricular (not a course project).

Submit Proposal and Video

Once you complete the proposal and video, submit it at the link below.

Presentation

Along with the 2-minute video, you must present to the board about your project. You will be contacted to present after you submit your proposal.
