Join us and learn more about our social & cultural, academic, and professional events! The Engineering International Student Programs has curated activities and opportunities to grow your social & professional network as well as soft skills.
The Grainger International Students Community (GISC) hosts three types of events designed to support and connect students throughout the year: our monthly International Coffee & Chai Hour, the World Showcase Series (four events annually), and academic workshops in collaboration with Grainger Engineering and campus partners. Each event offers a unique focus, creating opportunities for students to build community, explore diverse cultures, and develop academically and professionally in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Join GISC to connect with fellow international students, celebrate cultural diversity, expand your network, and make the most of your experience at Grainger Engineering.
First Thursday of the month
|3:30pm–5:00pm| John Deere Pavilion
Join us the first Thursday of the month from 3:30pm-5:00pm at John Deere Pavilion (MEL 2005) for coffee/chai, and interaction with students, staff and faculty from around the world.
This event is open to domestic students, faculty and staff. GISC events' photos are posted on our Instagram page @ grainger_internationalstudents
GISC represents students from around the world. We want to learn more about you by exploring your country, culture and traditions. The World Showcase highlights a selected country, continent/region, or cultural group with a celebration that displays its customs, traditions, languages, religion, and more. There will be two world showcase series per semester. The series will be celebrated in the following: a cultural night, religious celebration, cooking demo, etc.
GISC aims for our students to feel welcome and succeed in their academic and professional journeys. Our program is developing activities and events to help improve your skills and academic success. Learn more about our upcoming academic workshops and sessions!
*Events with 'TBA' will be updated very soon with dates and times!
