Lessons
Lessons are held at Commonwealth Farm in St. Joseph, IL and taught by Head Coach Terri Foreman and Assistant Coach Kristina Slaby. This is about a 20 minute drive off campus, but carpools are available. Each lesson costs $55 and is an hour long (not including tacking and untacking), so expect to get there thirty minutes to an hour early.
The Team
Hunt Seat riding in IHSA is judged on equitation, or how correct the rider is in their position and cues to the horse. Hunt Seat riders will normally compete in two divisions, one over fences and one flat class. To compete, you will need: tall boots, a helmet, a showshirt with ratcatcher, tan breeches, a show coat, black gloves, and a black belt. Some of these items can be borrowed from the team closet but options are limited. Please note that additional costs come with traveling.
