Katie Rich

Katie is a senior studying Chemistry with a minor in Anthropology on the Pre-Med track. She hopes to go into sports medicine and work with other equestrian athletes. She has been riding for 14 years and has an extensive background in the Saddleseat discipline, but also shows her own hunter (and Saddlebreds) in her home state of Texas. This will be her

Vice President

Julia Gong

Mae is a sophomore majoring in Animal Sciences Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She is from Champaign and has been riding horses since she was four years old. She only started showing when she was a sophomore in high school as she didn’t have any interest in showing until her trainer asked her to be on her IEA team. She now teaches lessons to others and competes on the Illini Equestrians English Show Team.

Secretary

Mia Malinowksi

Mia is a sophomore majoring in Consumer Econ and Finance on the Pre-Law track. She is from Glenview, Illinois and has been riding since she was thirteen years old. At home, she rides at a hunter jumper barn and works as a camp counselor for children with disabilities. This will be her third semester with the Illini Equestrians, and she will be showing on both the Western and Hunt Seat teams.

Kelly Kurka

Rebecca is a senior studying Computer Engineering. She is from Longmont, Colorado and has been riding since she was eleven years old. She has a paint horse at home named Apache but did not start showing until her first year of college, when she joined the Illini Equestrians Western Show Team.

Social Media Coordinator

Portia Johns

Portia is a sophomore from Wheaton, IL studying Animal Sciences on a Pre-Vet track, and she hopes to be an Equine Veterinarian in the future. She has been riding for six years, and has since showed in the jumpers, hunters, and equitation around the NIHJA and A circuits. This will be her third semester showing with the Hunt Seat Team and second semster showing with the Western Team.

Raena is a sophomore in Crop Science. She is from Tolono, IL and has been riding her whole life. She competes in eventing on her own horse as well as teaching some riding lessons; she enjoys being able to share her love of horses with her students! She has mostly ridden English in the past but has found a love of Western riding through this Western show team and is excited to be this year's Western show team coordinator!
