Do I need horse experience to join?
Not at all! We welcome all ranges of experience, from people who have never touched a horse to people who have ridden their entire lives. Both coaches teach beginner lessons and both teams have divisions for beginner riders to compete.
What clothes do I need for lessons?
For Hunt Seat lessons, you will need breeches, tall boots/paddock boots with half chaps, and a helmet. If you need recommendations on what/where to buy contact uiuc.ie.englishhsc@gmail.com

For the Hunt Seat Team, you will need tan knee patch breeches, a white show shirt with ratcatcher (tie for men), black tall boots, neutral show jacket (navy, black, green, grey, or maroon), black gloves, black belt, and a black helmet. For the Western Team, you will need bootcut jeans, boots, a black hat, chaps, belt, and a show shirt. There is a team closet with hats, chaps, and show shirts available, but there are limited options. For recommendations on what to buy, contact abbyw4@illinois.edu.
What are the fees?
It is $25 for the year to be in the general club. To be on the Hunt Seat Team, there is a $750 fee at the beginning of show season, as well as costs related to showing and hotels. To be on the Western Team, there are fees also related to showing and hotels.
